The Royal College of Psychiatrists have produced a leaflet for people who have experienced a traumatic event and for people who know someone that has. The leaflet has more detailed information about PTSD, including neurobiological causes and treatment options. There are also links for further information and reading. This leaflet also briefly talks about Complex PTSD.
David Baldwin is a psychologist based in Oregon, USA. He has written a website that has masses of the latest research on trauma and treatment. The site has been recognised internationally for it's collection of material on trauma.
Somatic experiencing is a therapy based on the work of Peter Levine. This is a 30 minute video that demonstrates the neurobiological response to trauma. Peter Levine's work is based on observing animals responses to trauma which he has applied to humans to better understand our innate responses to trauma and how it becomes 'stuck' and can evolve into PTSD symptoms.
